Their tail is black & white. Their belly is reddish brown.
Shama can be seen mainly in
North Bengal. They have outstanding ability to whistle.
During summer, they use to build nests at the bottom of trees with
grass, hair etc. They lay 3-5 eggs at a time. But they use to avoid
human localities. They love to stay alone.
Their voice is very sweet. From March to May - they sing frequently
like 'choor-chi-choorrr'.
'Shama' - permanent resident of Bengal.
Latin name of Shama is C. malabaricus.--
